The Lots get you to Sit Up Straight on debut release
After converging in the forests of the Sunshine Coast many moons ago, good mates The Lots finally bring their trademark blend of subtropical groove based riffs, vocal hooks and brass harmonies to masses via the release of their highly anticipated debut Ep titled SIT UP STRAIGHT.
This five track musical jaunt is the distillation of the bands creative evolution over the years, its various incarnations and the respective musical and life experiences of all its members.
On SIT UP STRAIGHT, The Lots have capitalised on some great local resources and enlisted roots legend Paul Bromley (The Beautiful Girls, Bobby Alu, Kingfisha, Kooii) to take on role as engineer and producer in his YAMA-NUI studios.
SIT UP STRAIGHT clearly showcases the bands broad influences, growth, maturity and restraint as a collective of songwriters. Bromley exercises his vast industry knowledge and roots sensibilities throughout the process and manages to tease out every ounce of the bands collective mojo and capture a band in their element. Not ones for bowing to industry trends, this EP sees The Lots stay true to their earthy character and political style whilst reminding us all not to take things TOO seriously. The end result here is a high end, polished product that still maintains to leave just the right amount of pulp in the juice.
The Lots have been grateful to play at Island Vibe Festival, East Coast Originals, The Sol Bar, Solstice Roots, World Environment Day and have appeared on Balcony TV. They have shared the stage with many great acts including The Tooth Fairies, Andrea Kirwin, Fyah Walk, Bearfoot, The Flumes and Ben Ely.
In keeping with the celebratory vibes The Lots are running competition where one lucky Sunshine Coaster can host The Lots to play a free night of musical entertainment in the form of a house concert. For details visit
