Skunkhour let the funk pour down on latest single, 'Rain On Me'

Long-time Australian favourites, Skunkhour are back with relentlessly booty-shaking thick funk with ‘Rain On Me’. Mixing in their blend of heavy funk riffage, trail-blazing rhymes and sublime soul-pop melodies, ‘Rain On Me’ once again shows Skunkhour as a truly unique band in the Australian music landscape.

Their new single “Rain On Me” stalks the listener with a relentless slap bass line, guitar that jags and fizzes as keyboards drip and swoop, while Aya’s melodies and Del’s rhymes, punch and weave before dropping in the slot of a mantra like chorus.

Beginning as a full throttle jam during soundcheck at Brisbane's Princess Theatre last year, the song’s lyrics speak of an adrenalin soaked stimuli overload on a search to find affinity within chaos.

‘Rain On Me’ absolutely drips in sultry funk, resting on the backbone of the tightest, aggressive slab bass groove and drums so far into the pocket they are covered in lint. Vocalist brothers Del and Aya yin yang with their soulful vocal take and rhymes, as they are known to, sitting on top of pointy guitar and synth stabs. Skunkhour have never shied away from their funk-soul roots, but damn, ‘Rain On Me’ is their thickest bounce in a long time.

To celebrate the release Skunkhour will be touring the east coast of Australia throughout November & December 2023. The live shows will include all their killer past tracks, along with new music.

Easily one of the most intriguing, slick, and funk-fuelled original bands on the Australian scene, Skunkhour have always been ahead of the curve, and ‘Rain On Me’ further proves this point.

The funk is coming, to take you into summer, with Skunkhour.

‘Rain On Me’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
