Sydney's Nikkita sets sight on the 'Horizon' with synth-heavy indie pop single

Sydney-based indie pop artist, Nikkita returns with an enchanting, synth-heavy new single in ‘Horizon’, which is out now.

Following on from previous singles, ‘In The Sky’ and the impressive debut ‘Looking Up’, ‘Horizon’ continues stylistically in synth-fused indie pop with touches of nostalgic 80s synth wave.

Melancholic, heavy laden, and yet edged with a twist of optimism, ‘Horizon’ is an intense slow-burn from Nikkita. The synth-heavy track starts light, drifting in atmospherics, and floated by Nikkita’s vocal delivery. The pitch bending synth signals lift off, pushing further and higher, before reaching peak and signalling in the 80s-heavy beats and fuzzy pads. ‘Horizon’ is both cold, but sunlit, at times uneasy, yet warming, and difficult to pigeon-hole, which makes it all the more a compelling listen.

‘Horizon’ feels a bit like another chapter in a lonely story for Nikkita. Much like her first two singles, themes of hyper-independence and a sense of shutting people out weigh heavily in this track, but as always there is an air of hope and defiance.

”It’s a song about believing there's something better coming, even when it seems like the world is crashing around you. Like when you're on a plane flying through a storm, and you're getting shaken about, but you know if you just keep going, you'll rise above the clouds eventually and see the blue sky." - Nikkita on ‘Horizon’

Emerging seemingly from nowhere in early 2022 with her debut single 'Looking Up', Nikkita quickly amassed over 12,000 streams on Spotify. The single was recorded with producer Izaac Wilson (DZ Deathrays, Tia Gostelow, Chillinit, Huskii) at the beautiful Grove Studios.

She then followed up with the release of her single ‘In The Sky’. The single was premiered exclusively via AAA Backstage and received coverage from the likes of Australian online tastemakers.

‘Horizon’ has taken off and ready for your ears, streaming on all digital platforms now.
