Sunshine Coast-based pop sensation, AYLA returns with a brand new masterpiece in the emotionally-charged single, ‘Should’ve Been Fine’; a deeply introspective track which is a heartfelt exploration of love, the choices we make, and the poignant question of ‘what it?’.

Against an apocalyptic backdrop, AYLA’s relatable emotion is once again on full display as she invites her listeners to ponder the fragility of life and the importance of seizing the moment, not allowing the 'what ifs' to define one's life choices.

Initially crafting the song's first demo independently, AYLA later joined forces working collaboratively with Sam Thomlinson (Bad Pony) and Peter Holz (Gang Of Youths, Peking Duk, Vance Joy) on production, ensuring the music perfectly mirrors the emotional depth. The outcome is a captivating sonic landscape that effortlessly balances between an upbeat anthem and a heartfelt, emotionally resonant and enthralling composition.

AYLA’s embracing of the more theatrical sounds, merged with alt-pop/synth-pop results in the emotionally-charged, massive-sounding ‘Should’ve Been Fine’. It’s heavy on the textures that shift and shimmer, bass tones that tie in with dramatic beats, and AYLA going full indie-diva mode, imploring the listener to embrace opportunities. The climatic build into the twist ending is a beautiful payoff, with superb production from Sam Thomlinson and Peter Holz. It’s another massive track, and a huge win, from one of Queensland’s, if not Australia’s, more unique artists.

Sharing her inspiration for the song, AYLA explains: "I wrote this song about being in love with my best friend, who loved me back, but we knew it wouldn't work out. 'Holding off on happiness cause some stupid little things didn't line up' is a line in the chorus that pretty much sums it up! I was really feeling like life was too short to let anything get in the way of two people loving each other and being together".

Known for her distinctive and eclectic style in the world of modern music, AYLA’s music is a refreshing force, seamlessly blending sophistication, darkness, and vivacity into every composition. Her music boasts irresistible hooks, diverse and multi-layered production, and lyrics that delve into complex yet familiar feelings – but it’s her voice that stands as the sharpest instrument in any of her tracks, making her unmistakably unique in her craft.

AYLA’s hope for ‘Should've Been Fine’ is that it resonates with listeners, not just in the context of her own experience, but also in the broader sense of dealing with the frustration of having something within reach that could have been great, yet making the difficult choice to let it go.

‘Should've Been Fine’ is now available on all major streaming platforms.
