Bris-based alt-rock power trio, Nonberk return from 2-year hiatus with groove-heavy new single, 'Encircle'

Brisbane three-piece Nonberk are back, breathing new life into their sound with a revised line-up and a brand new single in ‘Encircle’. The new track is an embodiment of the cherished riff-heavy Nonberk from previous releases, with a revised outlook and unrelenting technical virtuoso.

This release marks the new evolution of a fully self-produced Nonberk, as the band wields full creative control towards their vision of a sound that truly captures their exciting blend of classic and emerging alternative rock, gathering upon the extensive collective influence of each member’s evolution over the years.

To celebrate the release, Nonberk head to the Bearded Lady on November 11, returning to shake the Brisbane live music scene to its core.

‘Encircle’ comes off like a mutated heavy hybrid of Royal Blood’s ‘Out of the Black’, utilising ridiculously chunky, djent-toned bass, and blended with ‘Badmotorfinger’-era Soundgarden and early Silverchair. It’s super-thick, super-sized prog-grunge, groove-fuelled and cranked to 11. Nonberk have used their 2-year hiatus to reassess, and re-birth; though there’s still sly nods to the previous incarnation, Nonberk 2.0 are fired up and have something to prove - rock n roll never dies, it just gets hairier and heavier.

Newest member and bassist, Kevin Boga takes the role of producer for the new Nonberk, assisted by co-producer and drummer Samuel Monk. Vocalist and guitarist Zaac Thompson has wielded the role of creating a new image for the band, creating exciting visuals in their music video for Encircle and on social media.

The Bris-based trio, initially formed in 2019, have collectively played nearly every existing Brisbane venue, so the power trio know the ropes and are guaranteed to take you on a hell of a ride. Expect obscenely heavy yet groovy riffs, laced with delicate emotional complexities, and wrapped up in unanimously epic hair pertaining to an incredibly approachable but endlessly exciting novel sound.

‘Encircle’ - the next chapter for Nonberk - is out now on all streaming platforms.
