Brisbane's Jorja B opens the gates to sad girl world with alt pop single, 'I Still F*cking Miss U'

Meanjin/Brisbane artist, Jorja B continues to deliver sad girl alt pop with her latest single, ‘I Still F*cking Miss U’. The 21-year-old has brought a string of singles previously, and the latest track is packed full of relationship breakup heat.

The new single forms part of Jorja’s soon-to-be finalised EP, encapsulating the pain of an unavoidable breakup. Covered in dulcet piano melody, surrounded by airy synths and rounded bass, Jorja’s lyrics open the gates to sad girl world.

Jorja B is carving her own brand of sad girl alt pop, with previous releases ‘Hate U Now’ and ‘If I had the chance’ introducing the listener to her ridiculously catchy sad girl tones, and she continues that trend with ‘I Still F*cking Miss U’. Tear-drenched synths blend with softly keyed piano, which juxtapose with bass-tied kick and swung claps, all allowing Jorja to pour her heart out freely; her vocal performance becoming cathartic. If we’re going to visit sad girl world for a bit, at least the soundtrack is a banger.

Jorja writes from her own experience of heartbreak, exploring the depressive stage of grief. Melodically taking you through a fight for acceptance that is often impeded by self doubt and nostalgia.

'As much as the title is intense, this track is not about wanting to get back with someone but to process the loss of that person. The right path is seldom the easiest one.' - Jorja B

Keep an eye and ear out for Jorja B’s soon to come EP, but in the meantime, take in ‘I Still F*cking Miss U’ which is out today on all streaming platforms.
