Chris Ah Gee is definitely 'Cool Witchu' on sweat-soaked Neo Soul single

Sunshine Coast’s prince of neo soul and groove, Chris Ah Gee is back again with another instalment from his upcoming debut album with the release of new single, ‘Cool Witchu’.

From the beginning, the slowly-tremolo’d keys set the pulse for this Neo Soul burner. Chris Ah Gee has proven he has a knack for channelling late 90s smooth RnB/Soul, from his (now) unmistakable falsetto, and his love for fat groove, Chris pours much more than just love in to ‘Cool Witchu’. The added bonus of two different bass lines in this song intertwining with each other, with one rounded and fat, and the other soaked in Touch Wah for super rubbery action, lifts the song just right. Turn the lights down low, crank the subs, and get funky with it.

Chris explains the overall theme for the track being that of burning young love.

“Cool Witchu is a song about the journey of a young, adventurous couple and their relationship dynamic blooming and progressing throughout the instability of early years to now. Being ‘Cool Witchu’ is a youthful expression for choosing to be with someone, I am cool with you if you are cool with me,” he said.

The new single is taken from his forthcoming debut album called ‘Lovestoned’, which is set for release on October 27th. Chris Ah Gee created the futuristic Neo Soul/RnB album on his laptop while confined to his bedroom during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The album was then mixed and produced at Yama-Nui Recording Studio alongside StoneWax Productions and Paulie B. The album sonic was inspired by the likes of as Anderson Paak, Tom Misch, D’Angelo and Frank Ocean.

‘Cool Witchu’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
