Newcastle’s Science Rockets have released their latest single, the emotive, ‘Eyes Closed’; a heavily-layered guitar-trip with a heartbreaking narrative.

Formed in 2020, Science Rockets formed from the remnants of The Girl Folder, and a chance meeting of like-minded musicians chatting online, the band bonded over a love of Ride, Secret Machine, Foals and The Cure.

The single, ‘Eyes Closed’ features delay-rich guitars, haunting atmospherics, and overdriven bass, which gives a more Australian prog-rock feel, familiar to those that follow Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect and Caligula’s Horse, though edging more to the less heavy, and more dramatic.

The accompanying music video reflects the song’s running theme of heartbreak, confusion, and frustration, all coming to a dramatic, freeing conclusion.

‘Eyes Closed’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
