Brisbane’s roots rock outfit, The Urban Sea deliver their second single to come from their upcoming debut album, ‘Fall Back to Reason’, ‘Your Enemy’ is a massive, hooky, groove rock offering reminiscent of bands such as Lime Cordiale and Ocean Alley.

Loaded with horns, ‘Your Enemy’ has plenty of soul & blues influences seeping in, wrapped up in a roots groove, with a thick rhythm section, Rhodes-inspired keys, and huge vocals, it’s a song that is festival ready (when they all start to come back).

Engineered by the band’s own Casper Hall at Sound Out Studios, and mastered by Matthew Grey (Butterfingers, The Screaming Jets), ‘Your Enemy’ is a love song at its heart.

Love songs resonate the deepest when they come from a place of honesty and recognise the potential for pain. In the words of Nick Cave “Those songs that speak of Love without having within their lines an ache or a sigh are not Love Songs at all but rather Hate Songs disguised as Love Songs and are not to be trusted. These songs deny us our humanness and our God given right to be sad, and the airwaves are littered with them.”

In this sense ‘Your Enemy’ is a song of unconditional love observed through the prism of a complicated relationship. Lyrically, it is at times sentimental and at times tongue in cheek. Musically, ‘Your Enemy’ demonstrates the six-piece at their best, drawing upon their arsenal of instruments, they take the listener on a journey from the calm to the chaotic and back again.

The Urban Sea's initial inception occurred in 2016 when lead guitarist Shanan Kilner and drummer Casper Hall's former band The Fire burned out and The Urban Sea was born from the ashes. Their first release 'Underground Love” was picked up by radio stations across the globe. It was quickly followed by the successful release of their debut self-titled EP featuring the single ‘You and Me’ which received national airplay on Double J, garnered thousands of streams across multiple platforms and put the band on the Australian music map.

Now, with ‘Your Enemy’ and a full album ready for release, The Urban Sea are hoping to make some more waves.
