Brisbane prog-rock band, Patient Lounge, are following up prog epic ‘BEGDA’ with rock’n’rolling alt-rock tune ‘Useless’, on the 22nd of April, 2021. The newest single, engineered by Bernie Wedrat (Chris Lord-Alge, Tom Lord-Alge, Michael Brauer) at Lush Recording Studios (The 1975, The Butterfly Effect, Katy Perry) and mastered by Ted Jensen (Billy Joel, Green Day, Mastodon), will be released digitally.

Since forming in 2019, Patient Lounge have already strung together an impressive list of gigs, supporting international acclaimed acts Haken (UK), Pop Evil (USA) and Wolfmother, playing Dead of Winter Festival, multiple interstate tours, and, despite the challenges of 2020, finished off last year strong, showcasing at BIGSOUND 2020, a headline show as part of Brisbane’s epic Valley Fiesta and a sold-out single launch at The Zoo.

Committed to staying as busy as possible, the boys started the year off releasing 9-minute prog journey ‘BEGDA’, launched with a main stage performance directly supporting Wolf & Cub and COG as part of The Other Festival at Fortitude Music Hall Brisbane.

Useless’ is Patient Lounge’s hardest rocking track yet, with angular grooves, crunching tones, 2 guitar solos and a huge breakdown to close the song out. As always, Patient Lounge focused on capturing real, dynamic performances in their recording process, taking full advantage of the quality gear at Lush Studios and being firm on their vision for authentic recordings. Growling above the punchy drums and splitting guitar leads, singer Zach’s inimitable vocals lament the anxiety that a broken relationship brings: Lines like “I can weigh the fear in pounds if time, scales heavy bend my spine” are an insight into the impact lack of trust can have on the psyche, and how far-reaching it’s effects can be.

“Useless was one of the hardest songs to nail lyrically. I knew what I wanted to say, and getting over the weird 7/8 grooves in the verse with words that didn’t just tell the story in an interesting way, but kept the listeners attention while everything else was going on, was a really fun challenge,” said Zach of the new single.

With the release, Patient Lounge are also officially launching their super-fan mailing list, the ‘Inner Circle’, with access to exclusive merch, VIP tickets, early access demos of new songs and heaps more! Claim your free welcome gift here: www.thepatientlounge.com/subscribe
