Emerging from the suburban Gold Coast region, alt-rock duo Mermaid Waters have released a fierce and energetic new single, ‘The Grudge’; a rap-rock blast that unsubtly twists and turns through abrasive grooves in to synth-based breakdowns.
Following on from previous single, ‘Royalty’ (which was closer to alt-rock/grunge), ‘The Grudge’ cranks the aggression to 11 with stoner-grunge groove providing the bed for vitriolic rap-rock vocals, snaking its way to a sample and synth middle section, before bringing it all back for a hint of Morello-esque guitar scratching. It brings to mind the more political-rap-metal from the Testeagles.
