Beau River delivers fresh burst of folk-pop on debut single, 'Strawberry Fields'
Sunshine Coast’s Beau River digs deeps and brings up a fresh burst of alt-folk/pop on the singer/songwriter’s official debut single, ‘Strawberry Fields’, which is out now.
The new single takes the listener on a fantasy exploring the essence of young love, painting a portrait of innocence and discovery, using vulnerable vocal tones, merged with honest, relatable lyrics, acoustic guitar and minimal electronic sounds, taking influence from the likes of The Lumineers and Ray LaMontange.
‘Strawberry Fields’ is sweetened, organic folk-pop, unabashedly earnest, and freeing. Beau River has crafted a fresh burst of seemingly simplistic coastal folk tones, merged with the classic Christian Patey-production that adds little flourishes of alt-pop that interweaves with the acoustic strumming, never taking away from the honest vocal take from Beau. ‘Strawberry Fields’ is heart-on-sleeve cuteness without being sickly.
Having grown up surrounded by acres of open fields, trees, and mountains as he herded cattle on horseback, Beau’s sound is a reflection of those childhood memories peppered with his journey into adulthood, from the country to the sea. His songs are an ode to coastal living, family, and gratitude. Using songwriting as therapy and sanctuary, Beau’s artistry emerged from the shadows of his former wife’s music career, taking his own musically creative path.
Beau shared his music with producer Christian Patey at Tiny House Records in 2022, and together they began recording his songs and crafting a new sound. The result - a mix of Christian’s modern tones and production, while retaining Beau’s stories and soul.
‘Strawberry Fields’ is the first taste of three singles, before dropping his EP later in 2024.
‘Strawberry Fields’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
