Melbourne's Outloved are equal parts punk and chunk on team up with Ocean Sleeper with new single, 'Tourniquet'
Melbourne’s Outloved adds some metalcore to their alt rock/pop-punk tones, having teamed up with Ocean Sleeper on Outloved’s new single, ‘Tourniquet’.
Full of punch, ‘Tourniquet’ is Outloved’s second release of 2023, co-written and produced with long-time collaborator Ionei Heckenberg (Ocean Sleeper), with the track tackling themes of loneliness, moving on from the past, and feeling trapped in love.
‘Tourniquet’ repeatedly tears you apart, and pulls you back together, with this heady mix of abrasive, chunky metalcore and pop-punk valour. Reminiscent of later year Bring Me The Horizon, there’s enough fun in the bouncing synths to give a lightness to the pounding beats and sawtoothed guitars. Outloved’s Jayden provides the light to Ocean Sleeper’s Karl and Ionei’s dark vocal takes. ‘Tourniquet’ is mighty chunk with a pop-punk heart.
Outloved vocalist Jayden Colvin lays vocal foundations throughout the track, leading featured Ocean Sleeper vocalists Karl Spiessl and Ionei Heckenberg to their spotlights as the track unravels. Traversing through emotive verses, anthemic chorus', impactful, hard-hitting walls of sound and climactic vocal deliveries, Tourniquet is a quick burst of captivating energy.
Encapsulating a plethora of elements that have come to define Outloved, Tourniquet pushes its sonic boundaries with a mix of heavy rock, pop punk and metalcore. Ocean Sleeper bring the contrasting light and shade into play with soaring clean vocals and demanding screams.
Outloved will play support for Windwaker on the Love In The Dark Tour in Melbourne alongside Caskets (UK) this July, where they'll share a handful of new tracks from their upcoming EP 'DROWNER', also out in July.
East Gippsland born rock trio, Outloved is Jaydon Colvin (vocals), Luke Bakker (drums) and Conor Kelly (guitar). The band found themselves in the depths of the 2020 pandemic after debuting their release Dying To Leave late 2019 via Dreambound, where they have collected thousands of views and recently hit a million Spotify streams on the song alone.
Fast forward to 2023, the band find themselves stronger than ever, having sold out their very first headline show last year at the iconic Cherry Bar in Melbourne, presented by Fireball Whisky. Equipped with their feisty mix of catchy hooks and belting breakdowns, Outloved have a taste for showcase, and release with the promise of more to come.
“Tourniquet” is available now on all digital platforms.
