Indie-pop duo JUNO bring irresistibly bouncy new single, 'come thu'

Meanjin/Brisbane’s alt-pop pairing, JUNO return with an irresistible bouncy new single, ‘come thru’; a track that is a colourfully decorated soundscape, enriched by its thriving hook and riddled with sparkling pop elements.

Produced by Taka Perry (Sycco, A.GIRL, CODY JON), and band member Sam Woods, ‘come thru’ is packed full of funky percussion, melodious bass, and convivial synths, with the track efficiently flowing with charisma and magnetism.

Sunny, sparkling, and utterly catchy, the charm of ‘come thru’ rests on that irresistible bounce of the nu-bossa nova bass and beats, and Kahlia Ferguson’s Lily Allen-isms. The track does bring to mind Allen’s ‘LDN’, but easier on the Ronson swing, and heavier on the polished pop, while still maintaining some indie-cred. ‘come thru’ is brimming in saccharine effervescence and heady optimism, while pushing that urge to break into a bouncing strut wherever you may be heading to.

Therapeutically written and skilfully produced, JUNO's latest cut sees them returning to the indie spotlight in stylistic fashion.

JUNO talk about the meaning behind 'come thru':

"'come thru' is about wanting to give your all to a relationship, but only if the other person is willing to do the same. I've had some awful past relationships where I constantly felt like I was giving everything to people who didn't give the same in return. Before entering my current relationship, I was really clear that if I'm going to commit to this, I need them to show up and support me and give as much I will. This song is about wanting a relationship to be a two-way street.”

To celebrate the release, JUNO will be hitting Australia's East Coast for a run of headline shows, before stopping over in Eora/Sydney as main support for Pacific Avenue at The Lady Hampshire. In the live arena, they sold out their debut headline show – capping Meanjin/Brisbane's Black Bear Lodge at 250 tickets – and have since shared the stage with Peking Duk, The Delta Riggs, Loose Bricks and Majak Door.

The group also made an appearance at Super Fun Day, performing alongside FIDLAR (USA), Pale Waves (UK), Beach Bunny (USA), Dune Rats and Ruby Fields.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2021, JUNO have established themselves as an animated and stimulating alt-pop act. Bonding over musical sensibilities, the dynamo duo have quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase through their social media presence and their compelling live shows.

Frontwoman Kahlia Ferguson has previously seen success in Meanjin/Brisbane-based rock band Sunflower and as a member of The Fergies, having toured the country supporting Powderfinger, The Cat Empire, The Jungle Giants, Jack Botts and Missy Higgins. She has also appeared at major events such as the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, St Kilda Fest and Bluesfest.

JUNO add to their catchy indie-pop catalogue with ‘come thru’ which is out now on all digital platforms.
