PREMIERE - Pearl unveils new altpop banger, 'Month Of July'

Sydney-born Alternative Pop artist, Pearl (now currently based in Berlin) is on the cusp of releasing her new incredibly captivating single, ‘Month Of July’, and here at The Point, we’re stoked to be able to premiere the music video, ahead of the track’s August 26th release.

The catchy single is the follow-up to her debut single ‘Honeymoon Suite’ that was released in 2021. The debut release was aired on over 100 radio stations worldwide, whilst gaining positive reviews from AAA Backstage, AuspOp, The Point Music News and many more.

While previous single, ‘Honeymoon Suite’ had a funky 80s playfulness to it, ‘Month Of July’ takes a more serious route, yet retains the multi-layered hooks that Pearl has developed as a part of her musical reinvention. ‘Month Of July’ has a slight The Preatures feel to it, with particularly when it gathers pace at the 70 second mark. Pearl’s voice, with a completely confidently relaxed delivery, commands your attention, and sits so well with this dance rock beat and indie-punk guitar & bass line, while the extra synth nuances scratch that aural itch throughout the track. Though Pearl states in the track she hates the month of July, we’re damn glad it sounds as brilliantly catchy as this.

Pearl (formerly Pearl The Girl) had outgrown her previous sound, and upon entering the studio to work on a new musical project from scratch, developed a fresh, alluring brand of alternative pop music that will weave its way into your auditory cortex.

Of the track, Pearl explains that it was born from a relationship breakdown during peak Covid times.

"Month Of July was a song I wrote in 2020 in the peak of lockdown during what seemed at the time like one of the most hellish breakups I’d ever been through. This song is about asking people to accept accountability for their actions. But I couldn’t care less about this person now. Hindsight is sick.”

Over the past few years, Pearl has been releasing music under the moniker Pearl The Girl, having toured all over Australia, the UK and Europe with Dune Rats.

Pearl recently teamed up with Warner signed powerhouse Sloan Peterson to release their single ‘Wear My Heart Out’, which was added to rotation on Triple J and covered by the likes of NME.

The alt-pop/dance rock banger, ‘Month Of July’ will be available on all major streaming platforms from August 26.
