Sunshine Coast-based singer/songwriter Drew Wilson returns with his first single in over a decade with the sunny guitar-pop track, ‘On and on’, which is the first taste of his upcoming album, ‘Happy Mess’, due in October.

‘On and on’ is a heavily-textured sunshine-y vibe, with Drew channelling his inner John Mayer for super FM-friendly guitar pop. There is a LOT happening, from the clean guitar jangle bouncing off the chiming keys, the steady pop-bounce drums, the wandering bass line, and the multiple layers of vocals, yet it all congeals in to one slick, sweet track. The little organic nuances left in, from the fret buzz/string clack of the Fender bass tone, and a super-clean vocal take that goes easy on the reverb, to the dry snare pop, it all keeps ‘On and on’ grounded, and from straying too far in to the overly-polished pop sounds.

Drew’s earlier releases, including ‘Far Away’, ‘Sunshine’, and ‘I’ve Got You’ all received national airplay and some commercial success, but by late 2013, Drew had hit a creative roadblock and was frustrated by the continual industry brick wall that was in front of him, making the decision to put down the guitar, concentrate on living and ‘cellar his songwriting’ for a better day.

Moving forward to 2022, ‘On and on’ is released and has already gained the attention of commercial radio, with the outlook looking fine for Drew’s upcoming ‘Happy Mess’ album.
