Fiona O'Shea releases fierce country-rock ode to independence in new single, 'Falling Off Getting Back On'

Country/Rock singer/songwriter Fiona O’Shea delivers the first of three new singles for 2022 with the country-rock single, ‘Falling Off Getting Back On’; an ode to self-proclaimed independence.

‘Falling Off Getting Back On’ has a certain organic/raw feel to it, giving off the vibe of a country dance hall. Starting off with Fiona’s vocals front and centre, with a tonne of reverb, a fuzzed-out bass, and a simple pounding kick. The song doesn’t gain full momentum until that first chorus kicks in, with the twin country-twanged guitars and the titular hook. There’s a distinct taste of 70s/80s rocked-out, female-led country stylings (think Alannah Myles or, curiously, Chrissie Amphlett with a twang), that gives a level of sassiness to the track.

Fiona O’Shea, in this track, takes you on an unpretentious journey into strength, optimism, and vulnerability, simultaneously. Of the track, O’Shea says that it is inspired by the times when it feels the most clouded, but most often than not, these times are followed by a silver-lining.

“It’s the ordinary beauty in every single day that keeps me coming back for more.”

‘Falling Off Getting Back On’ follows on from last year’s ‘Build Me A House’, which charted at #10 on the iTunes Singles Country Chart. It’s the first taste of three planned singles to be released in 2022, of which O’shea has been producer, along with guitarist/husband Mark O’Shea, and engineer/producer Aaron Griffin at Sleepwalk Studios (Coolum Beach). The tracks were mastered by Chief Engineer, Steve Smart at Studios 301 in Sydney.

‘Falling Off Getting Back On’ is out today on all streaming services.
