Victorian metal heavyweights, ATLVS release final single 'Broken Bonds' ahead of EP
Regional Victorian metal legends, ATLVS notch another brutal track to their tally in the lead up to the release of their next EP. The gritty, metallic groove of ‘Broken Bonds’ is out now.
Opening with the filthiest bass tone we’ve heard this year, and an almost Deftones-ish beat, ‘Broken Bonds’ is one massive, dirty groove. While there are some blast beat spices thrown in, the track almost nudges in to nu-metal territory with its pace, structure and atmospheric touches. It’s vocalist Nathan Coff’s raspy, emotional vocal delivery that makes the difference. It’s the right amount of gritty, metal surge to the senses.
With an arsenal full of new and upgraded material in collaboration with recording, mix and mastering engineer Scottie Simpson (Alpha Wolf), ATLVS are set for a big year ahead. "Broken Bonds" is the second single for 2022 after the tormented and haunting "Comethazine" dropped in February.
Following similarly heavy themes, "Broken Bonds" tackles toxic environments and is lyrically about growing up in an unhealthy home and recovering from the trauma. The band highlight that “abuse doesn't always have to be followed. The scars can heal generation to generation. Things can get better and a person doesn't have to be shaped by the environment they were raised in.”
The track is the final single to come before the release of the EP, ‘The Wound, The Blade’, which is due for release in mid-July.
ATLVS is Nathan Coff (vocalist), Matthew Borthwick (bass/vocals), Nick Clavarino (drummer), Nick Fitzgerald (guitarist) and Steve Ljiljak (guitarist). Since the bands inception, ATLVS have built a loyal following, touring Australia for the first time at the end of 2019, showcasing their brutal sound and winning over the hearts of metal fans across the country. The end of tour brought with it the quintets first headline show, which completely sold out.
ATLVS have previously played support shows for the likes of Windwaker, Gravemind, Pridelands, Ocean Sleeper, Dream On Dreamer and more and have been labelled as “Completely Ruthless” on their triple j Unearthed page.
"Broken Bonds" is available now and streaming everywhere.
