Melbourne's Misha Bear releases stunning, quirky alt-pop full length album, 'Superflower'

Melbourne-based Indie-Pop artist, Misha Bear releases a stunning, catchy new album that is covered in shiny alt-pop & electronica goodness. The full-length release, ‘Superflower’ is out now.

‘Superflower’ collates quirky-synth pop with super-confident vocals, bringing together a darkly fun, bouncing soundtrack. It brings to mind the completely off-centre Alisha’s Attic, Shakespear’s Sister, and a dash of Joss Stone sassiness thrown in for extra measure. Misha is able switch between dance ballads like ‘Déjà Vu’, and the borderline folk cut, ‘Amba’, to the swinging number ‘Bathroom Stall’ and the baroque-ness of ‘2020’. The playfulness of ‘Tall Poppies’ and opener ‘Playground of Youth’ cement the record as one that could easily be a cult favourite. Misha Bear dares to bring off-kilter alt-pop, that quite often sneaks under the radar, but deserves a deeper listen purely to the catchiness and clever hooks chucked in.

Misha Bear artfully blends elements of Indie, Pop and Electronica which carve out her signature sound. It’s progressive, synth-laden and easily digestible.

Her recorded style has been evolving since 2014 when Bear released her first EP, ‘Mouche’. She followed this with three more releases in quick succession (‘Ladybug’, 2018; ‘Stories’, 2019; and ‘Heart Gallery’, 2020).

Through the Pandemic lockdown, Misha used her time off stage to learn how to produce videos, and has been busily creating incredible video clips for all her songs, as well as maintaining a weekly YouTube series, called ‘Songwriting Express’, in which she reveals her songwriting process and writes a new song every episode.

Bear teamed with producer David Herzog to record her brand new album ‘Superflower’. The relatable album expresses her journey from single girl to new mum, and how the Pandemic affected her life at this time.

‘Superflower’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.
