Melbourne's ERIS AU brings brutal debut single in 'Kill the One Percent'

Melbourne’s ERIS AU has offered up one hell of a debut single in the cold, brutal track, ‘Kill The One Percent’; an unnerving metallic track that takes cues from various heavy genres to form one slab of a heavy single.

ERIS AU is a new heavy music solo project of Dylan Abel (Ex Nidus, Ex Arkive) that promises to deliver tongue in cheek sentiments through crushing and energetic song writing.

‘Kill The One Percent’ is chaotic, abrasive, and frenetic; and all this from one mind. Definitely not one for the faint-hearted, ERIS AU gives little reprieve throughout the track, with pummelling drums, and drill-like guitars. It blends elements of djent, metalcore, and hints of dubstep in to one beast of a track. The production has stripped away any warmth from the instrumentation, which is the whole intent; to be cold, unnerving and brutal. Unwrap all that though, and there is a cheeky groove to be had, particularly in the hook of the chorus.

According to vocalist Dylan Abel, 'Kill the One Percent’ is "...A great way to express myself musically without all the over analysing and politics that come with being a part of a full line up, the freedom it’s given me lets me explore some avenues that I wouldn’t usually, including making the lyrics a bit more fun and light hearted or incorporating synth sounds I wouldn’t usually think of”.

This new release continues on the chaotic and dance-y metal sounds that Nidus provided in their final track ‘Decay’ which was also written and recorded by Dylan, drawing influence from local heavyweights Diamond Construct, Void of Vision and more. ‘Kill the One Percent’ will be the first in a series of singles to be released by Eris AU.
