Gold Coast's Lemaire pours us a bold new single in 'Shiraz'
Raise those glasses, and let Gold Coast’s Lemaire be your musical sommelier, pouring you a bold, full-bodied, but smooth new single, ‘Shiraz’, as well as announcing his upcoming debut EP.
Lemaire is slaying it right now with that blend of indie funk and laid-back hip hop. With clean production that makes this track easy to drink in the sounds, there’s plenty of layers happening, so no need to scull it; give it a swirl, taste the 80s-revivalist Strat flavours, the deep bass and minimalist hip hop beat undertones, and those sweet rhymes and smooth vocal hook that flow over the top. ‘Shiraz’ requires multiple sips, with no hangover… guaranteed.
The song came to life after Brisbane producer, REENS4K slid into Lemaire’s DM's with an instrumental he had created just for him.
"I played it in my car over and over on the way home from a songwriting session one day and instantly found the chorus, melody and began writing lyrics in my head. When I got home I burst through the door to sit down and write it all out. It was probably one of the quickest songs I've ever written," explains Lemaire.
Lemaire has also announced the upcoming release of his highly anticipated debut EP What Did You Expect?; a five-track celebration of Lemaire's varied influences and masterful lyricism - due Friday 20 May. Thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase his diverse sounds, Lemaire offers a sincere and hopeful comment on this body of work "Most of these songs were born in my bedroom studio and although I have had help on the final nitty-gritty production and mixing, I believe the humility of these songs still shines through. I have tried to be the most authentic version of myself on these tracks, and I don't see that changing whatever comes after this."
After an explosive start to his career, with the releases of 'Ford Laser' and hit track 'Rocket Ship' that amassed over 1.5m YouTube views, LEMAIRE now boasts an extensive list of collaborators. He’s previously worked with Australian favourites including ILLY, Nerve, JK-47, Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), James Angus (Example, The Veronicas), Tia Gostello and Ali Barter. Rounding off his year of success, LEMAIRE wowed a sold out crowd with a sizzling live show at his hometown haunt, Miami Marketta, as well as scoring a finalist spot in the 2021 Queensland Music Awards for best Hip Hop/Rap artist. As he continues to wow audiences and gears up to the release of his debut EP, this success is proving to be just a taste of what Lemaire has to share.
