Gold Coast four-piece ZOOID get fuzzy with debut psych-rock EP, 'Luck Of The Draw'
Get in, weirdos, and buckle up, because we’re going on a stoney, fuzzy psychedelic audio odyssey with Gold Coast’s ZOOID who have just released their debut EP, ‘Luck Of The Draw’.
The fuzz-soaked guitars (and at points, the bass too) are thick from the get go, with plenty of wah guitar to float in and out of their sonic spectrum. The vocals are drenched in slap-back delay, as any good psych-rock vocals should be, and the drums have a vintage tone, but still enough depth to push through.
The overall ZOOID approach sees the band heavily influenced by psych and garage sounds of today (go to any dive bar in Fortitude Valley on a Saturday night and you’ll a swathe of it), but the quartet manage to still pay homage to the titans of the 60s and 70s.
It feels like the perfect soundtrack to a dirty, long road trip in the Kingswood to fuck knows where… just roll down the windows, crank this EP, and forget about whatever else is happening in the world right now.
ZOOID have lined up some dates to celebrate the launch of ‘Luck Of The Draw’, hitting up Byron Bay, Gold Coast, and Brisbane (twice).
‘Luck Of The Draw’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
