AlfanAnt are feelin' 'Lucky' with new release

Alt- folk-country duo, AlfanAnt (Ant McKenna and Alf)  are rounding out their EP with the release of title track Lucky. Pretty appropriate as 2018 has thrown so many wonderful surprises the duo’s way. Including a #1 spot on the Triple J Unearthed blues and roots chart, finalists at the Queensland Music Awards, a headline spot at the upcoming Neurum Creek Folk Festival (with several other festival spots yet to be announced!) and an East Coast tour already locked in for early 2019 with Tasmanian alt/country rockers Cotton Pony!

After releasing their debut EP earlier this year AlfanAnt clocked up airplay around the country highlighting key tracks 'Your Kind' & 'Comes A Time', the title track release will capstone what has unmistakably been a four track delight. “Lucky is a very old song that I hold pretty dear. There was a time I didn’t play guitar much but when I did Lucky was my ‘go to’ song. I’d play it and instantly feel better” enthuses Alf.

“It’s a pretty simple song, but I reckon it’s the emotion conveyed that sets it apart.” Explains Ant, “you can practically hear Alf’s heart break when he sings it. He played it at his mother’s funeral and I just couldn’t help but be totally moved.”

The immediate future for AlfanAnt consists touring, namely Queensland and Tasmania in early August, including a spot at the prestigious Junction Arts Festival in Launceston. Then plans to record again later in the year at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium will see AlfanAnt start prepping the release of their debut album - set for release in late 2018.

20 years may sound like a long time but AlfanAnt sound, tour and play with just as much enthusiasm as they did back in late 90’s and 2000’s. Catch AlfanAnt on tour this August, when they appear locally at Solbar on August 4 with The Sundowners.
