Melbourne's thedelirious. deliver fierce, emotionally-charged, yet dreamy single in '3three'

Melbourne-based alt rock outfit, thedelirious. have released a fierce, emotionally-charged, yet dreamy single in ‘3three’, which switches between new-wave goth tones, and thicker 90s grunge tones.

After playing all around Australia together for over six years, the four-piece have managed to gauge a garage rock sound that has bent and formed into something they hold dear. Having delved into Indie Rock for most of their catalogue, thedelirious. shift into a heavier, atmospheric tone with more on the horizon.

‘3three’ delves into shoegaze territory, albeit with a heavier, thicker bent. Awash with reverb and delays, the guitars balance between dreamy and borderline nightmare-ish, while the heavy picked bass and drums bludgeon their way through the track. thedelirious have crammed a massive amount of sound into a smaller-length track, paying homage to their garage rock roots, which unabashedly emotional, even grungy at times.

Speaking on the track, the band explain that ‘3three’ expresses the discomfort of staying stagnant, despite the need for growth.

Embedded into the song is a feeling of melancholy that explores a theme of wasted potential, and a deep lust for change.

‘3three’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
