Sunk Loto announce return after 15 years with two massive shows
Easily one of Australia’s most influential heavy bands, and one that had an important mark on our home-grown scene, Sunk Loto have announced a return to stage after 15 years apart.
It started with a tease on each of the four members’ social media pages, which got the rumour mill turning, and sure enough, within a week we now have confirmation that Jason, Dane, Luke and Sean have reformed the band, coming together to reconnect with their fans, entertain, have fun, and reignite their love of playing music.
Signed to Sony in 1999 when the average age of the band members was 16, Sunk Loto released an EP and two albums over their 10-year history. They toured the world with bands like Korn, Linkin Park, Suicidal Tendencies, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, and Sevendust, and staked their claim as an epic live band at festivals such as Big Day Out, Homebake, Vans Warped Tour, Splendour in The Grass, and Falls.
Their releases, the 1999 EP ‘Society Anxiety’ and debut album ‘Big Picture Lies’ (2000) both demonstrated a more alternative rock/nu-metal sound, while the acclaimed 2003 second album, ‘Between Birth & Death’ showcased a more refined production and a definite heavier tone. With plans to record a third album in 2006, the band members parted ways the following year before that album could take hold.
After "five years of silence" (times 3) in a live setting, definitely don't miss the chance to catch Sunk Loto back at it when they finally return to a live setting near you. The first two shows announced, Friday July 29 at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Burleigh Heads (SOLD OUT) and Saturday August 6 at The Triffid in Brisbane (selling fast), you will not want to miss.
