Sydney-based artist Gia Darcy has delivered an angsty, empowering new single in ‘I’m Not Sorry’ - a bold, bright alt-pop song that is unapologetic in every sense of the word.

Following on the 2020 releases of ‘Lies’ and ‘Tango’, ‘I’m Not Sorry’ is a pop anthem encouraging and empowering people to get off the apology train.

Slick production, and reminiscent of late 90s alternative pop (think Michelle Branch, Tracy Bonham, Natasha Bedingfield etc), starting with a slight spring-reverbed acoustic guitar and pared-back vocal delivery, almost to the point of coffee-shop vibes, the track brings in a build, before exploding in full alt pop glory. There’s plenty of sing-along hooks to be had before the track winds down with a string section.

Of ‘I’m Not Sorry’, Gia explains the song is about finding the strength to be exactly who you are and never apologising for who that person is.

“I wrote the song as a reminder to always stand up for myself, and never let anyone walk all over me,” she said.

Previous single, ‘Lies’ has already amassed over 120,000 streams on Spotify, and ‘I’m Not Sorry’ looks to be heading in that same direction.

‘I’m Not Sorry’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
