Following up on the earlier release, ‘Music Is The Calling’, Bris/Sunshine Coast hip hop artist Jazz has dropped a killer new EP ‘Ground Hog Day’ with fellow collaborator Lex.

Bringing in fusion-based drum loops, vinyl-warped jazz guitar, samples and fat bass to provide the undercurrent to allow the raps to flow over the top, Jazz and Lex bring in old-school flourishes for flavour.

Using various producers to bring together the instrumentals, and collaborations with MC’s from the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba, Jazz stepped away from the mic to also piece together 3 of the beats used on this EP (with various samples and sounds), with Bolt Action providing the beats for ‘Excel’, and Roswell Beats on ‘Other Side’.

Of the EP, Jazz said it is about repeating the same job or daily routine over and over against, struggling to get somewhere in life, and fighting for a better outcome.

“We tell it how it is, as a lot of other people in society are going through the same thing. At the same time we really wanted to bring a nice laid back Hip Hop vibe that’s easy on the ears; really letting that Boom! Bap! Sound shine,” he said.

‘Ground Hog Day’ was put together over a two month period, and is available to stream now on all good platforms.
