Australian electronic artist, Friendless follows up on the highly praised previous single, ‘Drip ft. Jannah Beth’ with a new banger in ‘Lay Low’ - which sees the artist team up with Sydney-based electro-pop vocalist XIRA.

‘Lay Low’ brings some pulsating keys to the boil, mixing in XIRA’s sweet, almost effortless vocals, all with a cloud of atmospheric synths hovering slightly over the top. The synth stabs, house beats and deep bass shift the track into overdrive. It’s a rollercoaster of builds and releases, like a sudden, heated tryst on the dancefloor.

Friendless talks about the inspiration behind ‘Lay Low’:

“'Lay Low' is at its heart a love song, about stealing away and just escaping the world together. I wanted to give the track an energy that would be euphoric in a club and equally at home being cranked way up on a road trip.”

Friendless’ latest single ‘Drip’ ft. Jannah Beth was heavily supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1, Spotify, MTV Upload, triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi Radio, Radio Q (DEU), Australian community radio and KISS FM, who added the song to rotation. The track reached #6 in the ARIA Club Charts and was also praised by online tastemaker blogs The AU Review, Acid Stag, and Tone Deaf.

Previous releases have been embraced by the likes of ABC’s rage, Pilerats, Purple Sneakers, Project U and Cool Accidents. Friendless was the unpublished category winner of the 2020 International Songwriting Competition, and his single 'Lemonade', a collaboration with Dave Winnell, reached #21 in the Top 50 ARIA Club Tracks of 2020.

The accompanying film clip for ‘Lay Low’ features a collaboration with artist Rose Ashton, who said the artwork came about because it felt like when she had heard the song, she had seen it before.

“In an afternoon, last Summer. As though that memory, was made into music. The song evokes for me, fragments of time. Moments that live in our memories, becoming their own little eternities, our own little eternities,” said Rose.

‘Lay Low’ and the accompanying film clip are both out now.
