From the prolific guitarist and singer/songwriter of Tijuana Cartel comes a fully self-produced musical release, Cassowary Kids.

It’s Paul A. George’s first album under his own name, and while it carries all the musical heft of Tijuana Cartel, this solo debut sets out to soothe and transport you into a songwriter's secret places.

Cassowary Kids is out today, with a launch date at Guru Life on the Sunshine Coast on May 29 (teaming up with Digital Afrika, and Raw Ordio - tickets available here)

Inspired by his time living among the rainforests of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Paul set out to make music ‘that people can happily dance or simply dream to.’

This is the more demure little brother of Tijuana Cartel’s energised electronica.

With inspirations from artists such as Nicola Cruz, Desert Dwellers and Nicolas Jaar, Paul’s work has deep electronic roots elevated by the Flamenco and Middle Eastern riffs for which he is already so well known.

Expect an eclectic concoction of multi-layered grooves, lilting soundscapes, world beats and percussion.

Though 2020 proved to be such a difficult year for musicians and performers because of the pandemic, Paul turned those months into a creative respite from 20 years of touring Australia and the globe.

From the rainforests and their birdlife to the studio and his guitars, Paul’s months of isolation has produced this thoughtful and thought-provoking album. It reveals where he’s come from and where’s happy to be now. It’s a musician’s journey.

Cassowary Kids invites us along for that journey.
