Ballarat-based indie-pop duo Odd Tastes have today returned with their effervescent new single ‘IT’S ALRIGHT’ – produced and mixed by group member Will Stephens.

‘IT’S ALRIGHT’ opens with sparkling vocals, avowing guitar and heartening electronics, carefully constructing the song’s dynamic presence before heaving into an animated chorus with bubbly instrumentation and harmonics, guided by elegant melodies that float above the song’s plush texture. Shared vocal duties add variety to the track’s memorable spectre, while the lyrics underline the greenlight moments in a complex situation.

Stephens talks about the meaning behind ‘IT’S ALRIGHT’:

“I was going through a breakup, but for some strange reason, I was taking it so well. I decided to capture this with this song. Simply, it’s completely fine when someone don’t like you, it happens.”

To coincide with the release, the duo will be performing a one-off single launch at The Workers Club in Melbourne. This continues on from previous touring schedules, having shared the stage with The Smith Street Band and The Bennies, as well as appearing at Queenscliff Music Festival in 2019.

Odd Tastes consists of twins Will and Georgina Stephens. Blurring the lines of song writing with their wide-ranging mix of genres, the duo has made themselves known for their enthusiastic live performances. Previous singles have been supported by the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed, 2RRR, Forte Mag, and The Bops Collective.

In the coming weeks, Odd Tastes will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘IT’S ALRIGHT’.
