Party Punks, PhD! tell you to 'Keep Dreaming, Weirdo' with new EP.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Brisbane pop-punk weirdos, PhD! have slid straight in to our DMs with their eclectic take on punk rock with their new EP, ‘Keep Dreaming, Weirdo’ which is out now.

Rumour has it they were spurred on to join the music industry after their original drummer’s Nana provided the ultimatum of ‘you either become a doctor, or die in the military’, resulting instead with the young four rushing out to buy instruments, and PhD! was born (whether this is all completely true is yet to be verified).

Self-proclaimed ‘party punks’ PhD! Incorporate synths, slide whistles, and bizarrely, vocalist’s Sydney’s bones in to their already fuzzed-out, melodically catchy sound.

The recording of the EP was loaded with haphazard experiences, from Sydney contracting chicken pox and having to be isolated from the rest of the band, to the original drummer’s knee giving way and forcing an early retirement, Covid-lockdown, and the new drummer having to learn on the fly, while the studio faced technical difficulties.

Despite these obstacles, PhD! persevered to bring out a full-on, energetic blast of fun pop-punk goodness with splashes of weirdness.

‘Keep Dreaming, Weirdo’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
