Sunshine Coast’s own Dorah Jacson (aka Kayla Smart) has delivered her first new single since the release of her debut EP last year, and ‘You’ll See’ is a lush single, ready for the hot summer months.

While still maintaining Dorah’s signature sound of wistful vocals and plenty of dreamy atmospherics , ‘You’ll See’ sees an evolutionary step, with Dorah stepping away from earlier songwriting methods, and showing a more fun, matured style inspired by the likes of Benee, Mallrat and Laurel.

Teaming up with Christian Patey on producer duties (Kayla is also part of Christian’s touring band), ‘You’ll See’ delves into an experience dealing with a shitty friend, using a lighthearted approach. Blending together rich nylon guitar, some improvised percussion on a book binder, and relaxed vocals delivered with a hint of sass, the track is made to make you feel a sense of freedom and lightness with its tongue-in-cheek look on problematic friendships.

Dorah Jacson has been known as the ‘dark and dreamy singer-songwriter from the Sunshine Coast’ for the last few years, starting her journey with a bang back in 2019 thanks to her debut single, ‘Away’ getting picked up by Triple J, with a subsequent slot at Big Pineapple Music Festival, and supports with Ayla, Clews, The Beddy Rays and Hope D.

‘You’ll See’ is the first taste of a slab of new music to come from Dorah, and is streaming now on all digital platforms.
