Brisbane's Monsters Up North deliver gut punch with bratty punk single, 'I Want You (To Know)'

Brisbane’s Alternative Punk outfit, Monsters Up North have been relentlessly performing and releasing material since 2019, and their latest offering, ‘I Want You (To Know)’ is another blistering track from the four-piece.

Taking the DIY approach to another level, ‘I Want You (To Know)’ is bratty, with plenty of grit, fuzzy bass, and basement rattling drums, blended with full garage-rock guitars, and frontman Lachy Kerr’s charismatic and commanding vocal delivery. There’s sly nods to Arctic Monkeys, but also blend in older bands like The Saints and Ratcat for the Aussie alt/punk gut punch.

Never letting the COVID pandemic slow them down, 2020 saw the band release two EPs and play countless live shows from Fortitude Valley to Ipswich and Gold Coast to Sunshine Coast.

Showing no signs of slowing down, Monsters Up North hit the ground running in 2021 and have already made a modest name for themselves in the live scene, sometimes playing 3-4 gigs a week - each more energetic and entertaining than the last.

With two EPs under their collective belts, Monster Up North are now preparing to unleash their debut full length album.

‘I Want You (To Know)’ is available now on all digital platforms.

If you read this in time, you may even be able to catch them at Lefty’s Music Hall (Brisbane) on Saturday October 30th joining the likes of High Tropics, Wetlands, Forrest Run and more.
