Sunshine Coast's favourite Psych Pop Rock crew Fight Ibis are back this week with strong new single 'Finger Pistols', offering a quick dip into Surf territory and some much needed (albeit brief) respite from current World events.

The much loved five piece are back after a live hiatus of sorts, having been bunkered down writing the next series of single releases, all due to drop this year.

Kyuss Williams, lead singer of Fight Ibis says of the new track “This one is an attempt at writing a song to flog to a car company in order to make the big bucks. The song was literally called 'Holden Ad' for the longest time; but I think we missed the boat on that one. Its a surfy, poppy little ditty about a teacher trying to have a good time and saving himself from students that have turned. Enjoy!"

The band have had quite the introduction to the national scene, regularly popping up on industry radars with a steady release of punchy singles, making it 6 Triple J spins from 6 releases including a spot rotation for debut single 'Dorothy Deadleg'.

Since then Fight Ibis have dropped in on a bunch of festivals including The Big Pineapple Music Festival, Dead of Winter, Bigsound, Mojo Burning and more as well as supporting the likes of The Growlers (USA), Hockey Dad, The Garden (USA) and Mako Road (NZ) in several sold out performances. They deliver a chaotic live set whilst simultaneously holding an intensity and tightness that only a well versed band can handle, seamlessly moving in and out of Punk, Funk, Pop, Groove, Surf, Psych and Garage.

Fight Ibis are currently laying the finishing touches to their next two singles and will hit the road on tour again in October on the back of a new release. Catch the band at Solbar on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday July 11 for the venue's opening weekend.
