Strap in and set the cruise control on 90s Lane, while Sunshine Coast power trio Von Hazeler summon nostalgia with debut single, ‘Oh No’ - a big slice of pop-grunge rock that will have you whisked away back to Saturday mornings, plonked on the couch in front of the TV, wearing your favourite Converse All-Stars, and watching Dylan Lewis bounce around the set of Recovery.

Von Hazeler are a new act that is an amalgam of signature nineties sounds.

Jimmy (Guitars), Jon (Bass) and Cale (Drums) bring together a mix of straight-up Australian Indie Rock, with some psychedelic touches, and a whiff of heaviness & grunge.

Their debut release, ‘Oh No’ (recorded and mixed at Big Rock Studios in Coolum - home of The Dreggs and more) is a big, catchy power pop/grunge track, which Jimmy says is about having things not go your way, and getting lost in the turmoil of the outcome.

“I would say this song is about the similarities between people who go to church, and heroin junkies - that’s just the perspective I sing the song from; not to offend, but I like to take the piss out of things sometimes,” he said.

Formed from the ashes of seminal Roots/Rock/Reggae outfit, The Floating Bridges - a band that toured Australia/New Zealand/UK for a decade - Jimmy and Cale stripped back the roots and the reggae, and keep it simple with a 3-piece sound with the addition of Jimmy’s brother Jon.

Although this first instalment is a straight-up rock song, don’t be fooled. Von Hazeler are also subject to taking the music to different places - some psychedelic, soft, even heavier notes of distortion. Stay tuned for more from Von Hazeler in coming months.
