Vulpes Argenteus Unveils Debut Single: A Deep, Bassy Dive into Artful Alt-Pop
South East Queensland is a hotbed of alt-pop talent, and you can add Vulpes Argenteus to that ever-growing list with the release of his debut single, ‘The View’ - out on March 21. The solo project of Rhys Fox (bassist for High Tropics, (ex) Bearfoot, Muules, The Urban Sea, Flaskas and more), the track promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the alt-pop scene.
Mashing together influences from iconic bands like Gorillaz, Jamiroquai, Blu DeTiger, and with a little help from guest vocalist Ringo Starboy, adding a little Tame Impala/Stone Roses indie psychedelia into the mix on the track that bubbles and bounces, with a slightly sinister - yet playful - undertone.
This single stands out with its rich, bass-driven sound that reflects the artist's roots while exploring new artistic territories. “I wanted to create something that feels both familiar and entirely new,” says the artist. “This track is a fusion of my influences, with a strong emphasis on the bass, which is central to this piece.”
“Having played in the worlds of roots, indie and alternative rock for a long time, it has been refreshing and revitalising for my own my creative needs to push out the more poppier side of me that has always been in the background.”
This release marks a significant step in the artist's solo journey, offering a fresh perspective while honouring a legacy of musical innovation.
‘The View’ (featuring Ringo Starboy) from Vulpes Argenteus drops on all streaming platforms from March 21.
