Dirt City return with monstrous industrial/alt metal single, 'Envy'

Sydney’s industrial/alt metal legends, Dirt City return with the release of a soaring new single in ‘Envy’, utilising massive beats and monstrous riffing - it becomes one of the heaviest tracks release from the Sydney outfit to date.

Dirt City employ a synth-heavy, industrial-like futurism to their music rarely found in heavy rock. There are moments of ambience found beneath the drum-heavy breakdowns, thunderous riffage, and melodic vocals that give the listener moments to appreciate the true soul that makes Dirt City’s exposition of alternative metal especially captivating.   

Dirt City crank the dial deep into the red on ‘Envy’ — easily their heaviest release to date. But the weight doesn’t come from sheer brutality — it’s the thick, slow-burning groove that hits with full gravitational force. The industrial and electro-tinged textures still nod to Filter, but here everything’s dragged through molasses to give the riff real power. A brief moment of breath at the 2:45 mark offers respite, but it’s short-lived. Flipping between melodic hooks, throat-shredding screams, and synth flashes cutting through the mix, ‘Envy’ is a behemoth — slow, seething, and punishing in all the right ways.

The band entered the studio in late 2024 to record a run of new singles set for release over the course of this year. The tracks were produced by Nathan Sheehy (DZ Deathrays, Birds of Tokyo) and mastered by Klaus Hill (PNAU, LDRU).

Dirt City kicked off 2025 with the release of their blistering single ‘Scratched’, which premiered exclusively via AAA Backstage and received positive coverage from online press.

They quickly followed-up with their heart-wrenching single ‘Barely Human’. The single premiered exclusively via The Point Music News and gained airplay on over 100 radio stations worldwide.
