Canberra's Charlotte and The Harlots unveil debut punk-rock/power-pop album, 'Everything You Are To Me'
Canberrans, Charlotte & The Harlots have, after two earlier singles, released their debut album, ‘Everything You Are To Me’, which is the actualisation of each band member's dreams and ambition.
Recorded over four days in Sydney with Frenzal Rhombs’ Jason Whalley, ‘Everything You Are To Me’ is a display of matured songwriting and the sound of a band striving for greatness.
‘Everything You Are To Me’ bounces between skuzzy garage punk rock, and distorted 90s-flavourer power pop. It’s raw, super fuzzy, and authentic in its delivery, with lead singles ‘Hit The Limit’ and ‘Around’ delivering and rough & ready rock sound, with both grunge and pop elements. There’s nothing over-processed, leaving for a more organic offering. Stand out tracks such as the more melancholic ‘Alone Tonight’ (where Charlotte’s quavering vocal cuts deep), and the high octane old school punk take in ‘Over And Out’, while showing a little more diversity for the band, don’t break away from the over-all appeal of this non-fuss rock’n’roll offering.
Beginning work back in 2019, Charlotte & The Harlots formed these songs over several months before hunkering down to record in mid 2020. Battling the extremes of an Australian climate, Charlotte & The Harlots wrote a great deal of these songs in an old 19th century farm shed outside of Canberra.
Founded in Australia’s Capital, circa 2017, by front woman, guitarist Charlotte Jenkins and drummer Daan Steffens. Charlotte & The Harlots have worked their way to become one of Canberra's top acts, synonymous with their local scene. Now joined by bassist Jasper-Kemp Myers & lead guitarist Luke Schiffer, Charlotte & The Harlots are notorious for their loud, high energy shows. Here to deliver the Power-Pop/Punk-Rock/Grunge resurgence, Charlotte & The Harlots are the breath of fresh air you needed. The Harlots have supported notable local and interstate bands such as Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, Yours Truly, Pist Idiots, C.O.F.F.I.N, The Neptune Power Federation, ARSE, Witchskull, The Dead Love, Hard Ons and several upcoming shows supporting WAAX and Frenzal Rhomb.
To celebrate the release of ‘Everything You Are To Me’, the band have announced an East Coast tour from Brisbane to Adelaide, with a list of notable supports. You can catch their high energy shows throughout June, with Charlotte & The Harlots playing O’Skulligans (Brisbane) and Vinnies Dive Bar (Gold Coast) on June 9th and 10th, making their way to Melbourne to play Leadbeater Hotel on June 16th, the Low Life Basement Bar in Adelaide on June 18th, with the closing leg of the tour seeing the band head to The Duke of Enmore in Sydney (June 23rd), The Sky Postie in Wollongong (June 24th), and finally a home show at the Transit Bar (Canberra) on June 25th.
‘Everything You Are To Me’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
