Mufassa releases Aussie folk roots single 'Walk with Me', the final track from debut solo EP.
Sometime Sunny Coaster, part West Australian, Mufassa (aka Dale Mallett) has released ‘Walk with Me’; the final single from his debut solo EP, ‘Life in the Left Hand Lane’. All five tracks on the EP are a culmination of Dale’s experiences travelling around Australia with his family, providing a soundtrack to his journals.
‘Walk with Me’ has a sparse start with dry acoustic plucking, and Dale’s vocal, harmonising with himself, but that all changes with a four beat rest, and the accompaniment of bass, stomp box/percussion, and a subtle, fun banjo lick. Though known more for his coastal roots reggae stylings, ‘Walk with Me’ is distinctly Aussie folk in its sound, with more of a shuffle, and focus on a rich vocal melody.
This song, along with the rest of the EP, has been recorded with Brian Goodworth (The Floating Bridges, The Dreggs) at Big Rock Studios at the base of Mount Coolum. Aside from the banjo parts that feature, Dale was responsible for every instrument and vocal on this EP, an effort he says he is incredibly proud of.
“Music forms the soul of our community, it tells stories, shares knowledge, inspires us and brings people together through some of the most honest and vulnerable self-expressions,” he said
“Without music, we lose those exceptionally unique experiences that fuel our lifelong memories and connections. Now more than ever, music and songs are an invaluable asset to our health and wellbeing, as individuals and as a collective! Here is my contribution to the world, our community!”
Dale has built a solid reputation, from his beginnings with The Floating Bridges, to his Mufassa band project, and now the solo EP.
You can stream ‘Walk with Me’ and the rest of the ‘Life in the Left Hand Lane’ EP now on all digital platforms.
