Melbourne's Bad Juju evoke the spirit of heavy grunge in epic new single, 'What's Mine Is Yours'

Melbourne’s Bad Juju reminisce on the good times with great mates, epic moments, and beer-soaked summer road trips in their first single for 2022 in ‘What’s Mine is Yours’.

‘What’s Mine Is Yours’ is thick and fuzzy, and slams HARD. If a younger Shihad (talking early to mid-90s) had access to today’s production tools, and had just discovered Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Siamese Dream’, this track is what would come out. There’s plenty of alternative hard rock nuance present, but blended in with the more lyrically emotive stylings of grunge. While there’s a wall of guitar, bass and drums, that extra layer of airy synths that sits just under the surface adds an extra lift. It’s such a heady track, that will be on high rotation.

The track is an anthem about letting go, and a call to find the courage to not let your worries get in the way. Vocalist Russell Holland explains: “the song is about finding comfort in generosity. Sharing what little you have and knowing you can count on good friends to do the same.”

The new single was recorded and produced by Callan Orr (Dream On, Dreamer, Young Lions), mixed and mastered by Malcolm Besley (North East Party House, Slowly Slowly), with additional drum engineering by Beau McKee (Between You & Me, Closure in Moscow).

Bad Juju teamed up with Martin Wood of Interior Digital in collaboration with Kodak Film to produce a music video that echos the sentiments of "What's Mine Is Yours" featuring water pistols, fairground fun and a collage of wholesome moments captured on film.

To celebrate their new release, earlier this week Bad Juju announced their co-headline tour entitled 'Bad Manners' alongside Sydney favourites, Agnes Manners. The tour will be a short burst of dates, visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Tickets on sale now.

Bad Juju entered into the spotlight in 2017 with all guns blazing, creating hard-hitting 90s inspired grunge rock. The band have cut their teeth on the live circuit alongside some impressive names, including Mayday Parade (US), Trophy Eyes, Dream On Dreamer, and Columbus, as well as performing at BIGSOUND 2018.

Powerhouse single, "In the Clouds" saw the band go from strength to strength, scoring additions to Spotify and Apple Music playlists and securing a highly prized slot as feature artist on ABC’s RAGE. Winding back the clock a couple of years to 2019, "Say It", received high praise from triple j Unearthed and triple j's Richard Kingsmill, who gave massive props with: "You fucking mean it. I can tell. All bands should."

Working tirelessly to create music to remember, the band are back and ready to showcase their thoughtful blend of nostalgic grunge.
