Melbourne-based rockers Unbroken Expanse bring Celtic punk rock with new single, 'Bootstrap Billy'

Melbourne-based rockers Unbroken Expanse load up on Celtic punk rock epicness to deliver a killer new single (and music video for) ‘Bootstrap Billy’.

You have to love a song that’s based on a fictional character, and often, this particular genre of rock (punk rock with Celtic flavour) does it the best. You can smell the beer, and the sweat with this raucous sing along. There’s no mucking about - just a simple backline, and a lead playing a fiddle-esque line, whiskey-tinged vocals, and the obligatory ‘hey ho!’. Is this song breaking new ground? No. But is it meant to be played loud, and sung along to (no matter you ability) at the top of your lungs? Absofuckinlutely. ‘Bootstrap Billy’ is a tonne of fun, in the vein of Dropkick Murphys.

The band tell the tale of the mythical character known as Boostrap Billy through a jig, turned up to 11.

“Bootstrap Billy was a character. He sure knew how to spin a yarn. He was always keen for a good time and he didn’t mind rolling up his sleeves either. He loved a drink and loved a laugh and he loved to dance along to the band. As long as anyone had known him, he never took off his boots. He’d been on some wild adventures in those boots.”

Unbroken Expanse cut their teeth in the isolated, dusty town of Tenant Creek, Northern Territory. They are Rock N Roll without the handbook, learned by instinct. No salon-styled inner-city ennui, this is the music of true believers. Not trying to impress anyone other than the ghosts that flicker on the empty outback plains.

New single ‘Bootstrap Billy’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.
