Caravãna Sun unleash uplifting fourth single, 'Leave It Behind' from upcoming album, 'Burning Palms'
Sydney/Byron Bay musical nomads, Caravãna Sun have released another single, ‘Leave It Behind’, in the lead up to their third full length studio album, ‘Burning Palms’ - which releases on March 31. The uplifting new single, ‘Leave It Behind’ is the fourth single to come from the 10-track album.
Caravãna Sun once again prove themselves to be the musical chameleons we know and love. Always adapting and changing to their surroundings, and with ‘Leave It Behind’, you can tell this is a band hungry to burst back on to the touring stages - where they truly belong. There’s hints of 80s Australian musical-nostalgia in this track that both bounces and floats, with the bass-work doing most of the driving, while synths condense and create a stunning sonic mist. Vocally, it’s what we have come to expect of Caravãna Sun - reverb-rich, with effortless falsetto, and tonally diverse. The kicker is the dance-party turn around after the bridge that just absolutely lifts the track to the stratosphere.
Of the track, the band said it was written in Munich, in the pre-Covid times of 2019.
“It’s a song about trust and courage in the face of adversity. At the time, we had no idea we were on the eve of a global pandemic. It became our anthem to keep traversing this deep fracture in the arts community and hold true to our connection to music and the profound impact it’s had on our lives,” they said.
Although their new album was written whilst on tour in Munich and Lisbon, ‘Burning Palms’ is an album that sees CARAVÃNA SUN return to their roots and find appreciation in nature as it was recorded in a secluded space deep in the heart of the Blue Mountains, NSW Australia. Sonically the album lives and breathes in a way that means they could play the songs live, and is a celebration of the band’s longevity writing and performing together for over a decade.
Produced by CARAVÃNA SUN, and mixed by Andy Lawson (Death By Denim, Eskimo Jo, End of Fashion, Little Birdy) at Debaser Studio, Perth with additional mixing and engineered by Ian Pritchett at Laketree Mountain Studios, Blue Mountains, ‘Burning Palms’ showcases the band’s heartfelt introspective songwriting talent as they wrote and arranged every song on the album.
“After 10 years as a band, we’ve felt that no matter the music, the vibe of wanting to make music with friends always comes first. If we take care of each other, the music takes care of us,” says the band.
Since 2011 up until early 2020, CARAVÃNA SUN are known for their dynamic live performances and energy and have toured Europe, playing over 300 shows/festivals/open airs in Europe/UK. Highlights include Boardmasters (UK), Headlining Madnes (NL), Summer in the city (Germany), Boomtown (UK), Reggae Sun Ska (France) to name a few. They have toured with iconic artists Madness, UB40, The Cat Empire & Fat Freddys Drop and have built up quite the reputation beyond the sunny shores of Australia.
CARAVÃNA SUN fans will be delighted to know that their new album will be supported by a tour, which kicked off at the Tanks Arts Centre, Edge Hill in QLD on March 11, then head onto the renowned Byron Bay Blues Festival on April 14, before moving through to Margaret River on April 30, to Exmouth on May 6, Karratha, Broome, Fremantle and wrapping up in Sydney on August 27.
