Zero Theory continues sonic journey with explorative EP, 'Duality'
Sunshine Coast multi-instrumentalist and producer, Zero Theory follows up on 2020’s ‘Arrival’ album with the brand new EP, ‘Duality’, which explores sectors of Psydub, Downtempo, and heavy Bass.
‘Duality’ is heavily immersive. As with this style of music, it’s heavily textured which often scratches that audio itch. Zero Theory’s approach to bass-heavy progressive electronic music brings in influences from outside the usual realm, with a heavy bent on Eastern stylings and chord progressions. Don’t confuse this release for those with relentless beats and heavy glitching; ‘Duality’ is equally energising as it is soothing. Dive deep with headphones on, and tracks such as ‘Uncharted Waters’ and ‘Elements’ will swim from one ear hole to the other, while hitting that spot that transforms you into an transdimensional space goat.
Of the release, Zero Theory points out that it is a snapshot of his ongoing musical journey.
“These five songs are a musical embodiment of my experiences throughout what has been a turbulent year. The EP explores the balance of opposites; light and dark, male and female, joy and sadness. I have put a lot of time into crafting melodies and chord progressions that I feel convey the emotions I have been feeling this year, throughout my exploration of the Duality of this life,” he said.
Released through Merkaba Music, ‘Duality’ is a 30-minute voyage through a bass-heavy sonic landscape, that requires repeat listens to pick out all the pieces that come together to make this EP.
‘Duality’ is out now through major streaming platforms.
