Newcastle's Slow Cinema dive deep into 90s alt-rock/psych with new single, 'Faye's Fever Flow'
Newcastle-based Alternative Rock newcomers Slow Cinema have released their magnetic new single called ‘Faye’s Fever Flow’.
Fusing the dynamics of 90s Alt Rock, Slow Cinema deliver passionate melodies and smooth, flowing rhythms.
‘Faye’s Fever Flow’ brings seriously early-70s inspired 90s alt rock vibes; there’s elements of prog/psychedelia from fifty years ago with inclusions of super-slap back delayed vocals in the chorus, and the guitars washed with phasers. The drums definitely have an old school flavour, with a ‘fluffier’ kick drum and a dry snare, which all sits nicely in the mix, and the added Hammond-style organ finishes that psychedelic touch. Slow Cinema have managed to encapsulate the moment of inspiration when Gen X/Millennials discovered their parents’ vinyl collection and merged older flavours with an alternative flair.
Long-time friends Tyler Gibbs (vocals), Tim Hill (guitar/backing vocals), Sam Lawson (guitar/backing vocals), and Jarryd Carle (drums) combined forces after being mainstays of the local music scene in Newcastle for over a decade, with their previous bands playing alongside Australian favorites Hungary Kids of Hungary, The Preatures and Wolf & Cub. Joined recently by Mitchell Sonter (bass guitar), their sound continues to evolve and grow.
The band released their debut single Howlin’ last year and have since kept busy stunning local audiences with their electric live show.
New single Faye’s Fever Flow is available on all major online stores and streaming services.
