Koolz flips previous single on its head and releases alternative mix in 'Coffee (Stripped Back)'

Gold Coast’s Koolz has taken her previous single, the perked-up, bouncy ‘Coffee’, and flipped it on its head with a remixed version in ‘Coffee (Stripped Back)’.

Peeling back all the sunshine-y vibes of the original, ‘Coffee (Stripped Back)’ truly shows the original sentiment of the song, which is based on mental health and struggles.

Replacing the rounded bass, pop beat, and chorused-out guitars, with singular delayed guitar notes, and packed full of pads and synths, ‘Coffee (Stripped Back) becomes a late-night RnB burner. It’s the Yin to the original’s Yang.

Where the original is a bright soundscape akin to your first cup in the morning, this alternative mix becomes the nightcap, having taken the time to absorb the outcomes and begun to reflect on the choices made.

While both versions of ‘Coffee’ approach the theme of self-reflection, the alternative mix is the older, wiser introspective sibling to the perky, optimistic younger half.

As Koolz says, ‘This release has a warming, beautiful mess aspect about it’.

‘Coffee (Stripped Back)’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
