Sunshine Coast-based singer/songwriter Darcy Kate provides a panoramic soundtrack for a classic tale of love, lust, freedom and escaping with that special someone for adventure with the new single, ‘Run Away’, which is out now.

The second single from Darcy’s forthcoming debut album, ‘Run Away’ brings massive alt-pop country tones, bringing a heavily lusty vibe with Darcy’s soft but sensual vocals, backed by solid instrumentation, and dark tremolo guitar highlights.

‘Run Away’ follows on the success of Darcy Kate’s debut single ‘Last Train to Frankston’ which received airplay right across community radio, Australia-wide.

Of the track, Darcy explains that there is a heavy Bruce Springsteen influence behind the creation of ‘Run Away’.

“I have always enjoyed listening to Bruce Springsteen’s music, and while driving to work was inspired by his song ‘Born to Run’- I wondered what the female character (Wendy) in the song was thinking, and later that day imagined her story. They seemed to be two lovers escaping their day jobs and going on an adventure. It had been a difficult time in my life, and I came home from work that day and wrote ‘Run Away’. This song is a story about a couple pursuing their dreams together, with Bruce Springsteen and Wendy as a metaphor for their relationship. It is very much a song about freedom and passion”

To accompany the release of the single, a rich, Americana-heavy film clip has been released, helping to tell the tale of the two lovers, with Darcy Kate narrating their love affair.

‘Run Away’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
