Port Royal keep the rock'n'roll alive with new single, 'Ain't Got You' - playing Solbar August 2nd
Brisbane’s Port Royal's latest video for their brand new single 'Ain't Got You' is now out, and they’re well through their ‘Ain’t Got You’ tour right now, but don’t worry, they’ve making a stop on the Coast very soon.
Formed over a shared passion of classic ‘Rock n Roll’ culture, Port Royal are fast spreading their message of self belief and unity through their music across the country.
No strangers to Solbar, Port Royal will be hitting the back stage to celebrate the single and it’s brand new clip on Friday night, joined by local groove kings, The Fins, and The Buzzing Towers.
The band's latest single 'Ain't Got You', was released earlier this month and reached over 13K streams on Spotify in its first fortnight.
The uplifting, party-oriented nature of the track is a move away from the band’s bluesier, rock and roll origins, but has been enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike. Guitarist and song-writer Liam Morton explained his inspiration around ‘Ain’t Got You’ …
“When I wrote this song, I wanted to say that nothing matters if the people who are important in your life, aren’t there. I’d recently lost touch with someone very special to me, and I’d accepted that loss but it made me re-evaluate all the relationships in my life, my friends, my family. Life is lived to be shared, and I cherish every moment I share with the people I love.”
Ain’t Got You is the first track from Port Royal that Liam has stepped forward on taking the lead in songwriting, and the change of pace gave the boys the opportunity to reflect on their relationship together.
“I was pretty taken aback when Liam brought me the song, because I usually do all the writing, but I thought this was fantastic, the very first time I heard it. Walking through the song with him, working out all the instrumentation, pulling together the whole song was special. We ain’t got a clue, if we don’t have each other,” said frontman Lawson Doyle.
‘Ain’t Got You’ is also the first song featuring new bass guitarist Samuel Shepherd , who joined the band midway through their massive 26 date tour in support of ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ which has just surpassed 50,000 streams on Spotify. The Don’t You Forget About Me tour saw Port Royal win St Kilda Festival’s New Music competition and arrive home for a sold out show at The Zoo.
The band are celebrating the release with a nationwide tour, starting in North QLD including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Byron, Sydney, Melbourne & more.
Not only can you catch them coming through to us this Friday, but also returning as part of this year’s Caloundra Music Festival.
The tour is sponsored by Jameson's Irish Whisky and got off to a flying start this month.
