The Patient Lounge offer up All You Want with latest single - playing Peregian Originals July 14
Patient Lounge (formerly known as Therapist) deliver a compelling blend of musical styles, masterfully crafting a combination of innovative instrumentation, dominant vocals and zealous energy to offer a fresh spin on Aussie Progressive Rock/Prog Pop-Rock music.
After the release of their self-produced EP ‘Therapist’ in 2018, Patient Lounge will be releasing their debut single ‘All You Want’ on 19 April 2019. With lyrics such as “I love the way you stare, it keeps me begging and oppressed of air” and “there’s nothing I can say, all you want is nothing to change”, ‘All You Want’ is a song of desire for more.
The song explores the relationship between 4/4 and 5/4 time signatures, with an evolving sound that serves as a fitting representation of the distinct variety that Patient Lounge has to offer. The track opens with an alluring pop introduction that journeys through pop-rock stylings to reach its heavier prog-rock conclusion; exemplifying Patient Lounge’s skilled ability to produce intricate songs with a captivating groove, incorporating pop sensibilities in progressive rock tracks.
Patient Lounge’s refined blend of styles stems from the diverse musical backgrounds and experience of its members. The rhythm section of Nick Keogh (Matilda Red) on Drums and Tom Logan (Internal Devour/Inhailed) on Bass draw from a unique fusion of jazz, prog, death metal and pop influences to create a distinctive, driving pulse in their musically complex songs. This intricate instrumentation is layered with vocalist/guitarist Zach Eather’s powerful melodies, inspired by his appreciation for classic rock and his admiration of modern pop and rock’s most formidable vocalists and storytellers. Lead guitarist Eric Moors (Amicable Treason) contributes his impressive song-writing and musical prowess to complete the uniquely dynamic sound of Patient Lounge – Moors has garnered respect for his musical mastery in the Brisbane scene, having supported internationally renowned acts King Parrot, The Black Dahlia Murder and Cattle Decapitation.
‘All You Want’ was recorded/mixed by Bernie Wedrat (Chris Lord-Alge, Tom Lord-Alge, Michael Brauer) at Lush Recording Studios (Wish For Wings, The Butterfly Effect, Major Leagues) and mastered by Ted Jensen (The Eagles, Green Day, Alice in Chains) with music by Patient Lounge and lyrics by front-man Zach Eather.
Across the last two years performing as Therapist, the band have brought their impassioned live set to acclaimed Brisbane venues such as The Triffid, The Zoo, Woolly Mammoth, Crowbar, Black Bear Lodge, Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall and Prince of Wales Hotel; having shared the stage with acts including Smoking Martha, Port Royal, Mass Sky Raid, He Danced Ivy and Flynn Effect.
With the release of ‘All You Want’, Patient Lounge will be showcasing their meticulously cohesive and fiercely engaging live show interstate as they embark on their first tour across May/June/July 2019. The tour will take Patient Lounge to new venues in QLD, NSW and VIC (tour dates and details below), where they’ll entice crowds with their high energy, entertaining stage presence and raw, outgoing charm.
