The Sunshine Coast’s gurus of roots reggae, Bearfoot are finally giving a tease of their much-anticipated debut full length release with the latest single, ‘Jump The Gun’; with the 6-piece further exploring the darker side to their sound.

With previous releases, ‘Luminate’, ‘Could Be Worse’ and ‘Crazy For You’ showcasing their sunnier, upbeat vibes, Bearfoot give a nod to one of their biggest tracks, (the QMA-winning) ’Impolite’ with ‘Jump The Gun’ bringing in a pulsing, slinky dual bass & guitar line, over the top of bubbling keys and Mariachi-tinged horns.

Of the track, vocalist Asher Chapman says he’s always inspired by travel to write new material, and the idea of ‘Jump The Gun’ came to him during one of his first trips to Thailand.

“I was 17 years old, spending most of time there in the Northern parts, where I saw a major contrast between the wealthy and the poor. The things us Westerners take for granted, and the things people will do to survive this human race we run,” he said.

While the song had its start on that trip, it wasn’t actually finished until years later.

“Fast forward to now, and with the help of Paulie B at Yama Nui Studios, and the the rest of the Bearfoot crew, we watched this little track grow to what it is now.”

Once again teaming up with award-winning producer, Paulie B, Bearfoot have been holed up in the studio over the past year working on the long-awaited long-player, and are hot off the heals playing two blistering sets at Caloundra Music Festival, plus five dates with New Zealand reggae legends, Katchafire.

’Jump The Gun’ is set for release on all digital streaming services on November 8th, with Bearfoot celebrating with a single launch at Solbar (Maroochydore) on November 9th with Canada’s Alysha Brilla, and local folksters Anna & Jordan.

Tickets are available now via Oztix.
