Caught in a generation of young adults who can't afford to buy houses because they'd prefer to eat avocado on toast, punk-rock trio Something Something Explosion refuse to blend into the background of the Australian music scene. Heavily influenced by bands such as Bodyjar, NOFX and Frenzal Rhomb, Something Something Explosion have brought to life an unprecedented and rare sound that makes you long for the 1990s - combined with live shows that hit you like a bat to the face.

With their first release since their 2016 single Dominique, Something Something Explosion have recently made a fiery return to the scene with an energetic 96-second track, Motor Mouth (ft. Jason Whalley). Within the first week of its release, the track received over 300 plays alone on Triple J Unearthed, and hit number two on the Unearthed punk charts, as well as number 13 on the Unearthed overall charts. The second week of its release saw the track play on Triple J’s Short. Fast. Loud, reach number one on the Unearthed punk charts, and picked up by alternative radio station programs such as The Faction and Moshpit on SYN.

With material versatile enough to appeal to a wide range of audiences, Something Something Explosion have supported the likes of Ali Barter; The Bennies; WAAX; Me First & The Gimme Gimmes; Frenzal Rhomb; British India; Kingswood; Clowns; King Parrot; Child Bite (USA); Butterfingers; Totally Unicorn; Sheer Mag (USA).

2018 is looking to be a promising year for the young trio, kicking off with a mentorship with Australia’s leading heavy music record label UNFD, and support spots with Australian hip-hop legends Butterfingers & grindcore favourites King Parrot, as well as Australia’s favourite alternative rock bands WAAX & British India. Something Something Explosion are also embarking on a tour for their latest single, Motor Mouth.

You can catch Something Something Explosion on their Motor Mouth tour during Juy & August 2018.

Something Something Explosion appear at Solbar on July 21st, with Sweat Curse and Not To Regret.
